How well do you appreciate the complexity of your city? You know how to navigate through the streets as if they’re in your own backyard, but do you know how beautiful the city truly is?
I’ve lived in Hamilton, Ontario almost all of my life and I didn’t know it was as breathtaking as it is. Sure, the core city is nice, but the beauty lies within its nature. Today, for the first time, I went on a hike. Today, for the first time, I saw the beauty behind the city.
I recommend going on a hike on any trail. It is the best way to start appreciating your city. It’s fascinating to see how lush and green the forests that lie within or outside of our concrete jungles are. One minute you’re driving down an all too familiar road, the next you’re exploring a whole new world that’s been in your backyard the entire time.
I call them backyard adventures. Hiking — It’ll give you a whole new perspective about your city and you’ll definitely start to appreciate it more. Ask anyone who hikes regularly, they’ll likely tell you the same.
Today, I went on my first hike. You can be sure it won’t be my last.
