The very concept of dating is getting to know someone in hopes they will fill a romantic need. In today’s day in age, dating often consists of meeting a complete stranger whom you’ve met online and the reason you’ve met is because you are both looking to satisfy that need. It’s like going to an interview.
Dating is weird.
However, acknowledging that dating is weird can have pleasant surprises. What people often forget to bring on dates is themselves. We get so caught up in trying to impress and leave a good impression on the other person that we hide the best parts of ourselves.
Instead, we should all recognize how weird dating is. Focus on bringing ourselves as opposed to bringing a polished version of someone you’re not. Dating is weird, but it’s also about getting to know someone for who they really are.
